Your new role
As an integral part of our Property Services function, Eastleigh Borough Council are now seeking a highly experienced Building Surveyor to lead and manage our Building Surveying department.
Leading a team of Building Surveyors, you will provide strategic property and building surveying advice across the Council's investment and corporate portfolio. As part of your responsibilities, you will oversee the management and delivery of our comprehensive property records, annual condition surveys and capital building contracts and the planned maintenance of our operational buildings. Typical projects will encompass refurbishments and alteration schemes ranging from £50,000 up to £1M+, in addition to larger capital works on occasion, with values worth significantly more.
Within your role as the Lead Building Surveyor, you will be required to undertake a number of key professional tasks and responsibilities in order to fulfil your role to its full potential. Some of these may include: project specification writing, undertaking schedules of condition, contract administration, contract tendering, project management, budget management, dilapidations, building surveys any other general building related advice.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to perform successfully, you will be an experienced and commercially focused Building Surveyor with significant experience in undertaking a mixture of technical based workloads. You will be able to demonstrate proven knowledge in an array of Building Surveying tasks, alongside previous accountability for your own team of construction professionals.
It is expected that as the Lead Building Surveyor, you will educated to degree level within the Building Surveying specialism and essentially hold a professional accreditation to the RICS or CIOB.
