Our client are an award winning residential developer based in Kent who are looking for an experienced Buyer to join their established but growing commercial team.
Your role will be pivotal to the Commercial team in preparing accurate quantities and material schedules, competitively sourcing and co-ordinating the supply of plant and materials required for upcoming development projects.
Key elements of the role:
Effectively and efficiently procure quotations, negotiate and place plant and material orders within required timescales.
Agree procurement schedules with Build Manager/ site team to clearly set out the agreed deadlines.
Provide cost-data feedback to Regional Estimating Department.
To support the Site Manager with co-ordination of material deliveries to enable construction work to proceed to agreed programmes.
To review and forecast latest material and plant cost estimates on monthly basis.
Attendance to relevant site meetings, ie Cost Reviews and HA progress.
Meet with nominated suppliers at the start and during the Construction Phase of each project
Responsibility for subordinates as maybe directed.
Working with external employers such as Housing Associations including proposal and approval of materials, obtaining warranties etc.
Discuss and agree format with suppliers to minimise issues with payment.
Resolves invoice queries with accounts team
Effectively dealing with material variations including investigation, updating of cost reports and contra charges.
Working with other disciplines to seek continuous product development and value engineering.
dangers and accidents to their immediate superior or designated Health and Safety Officer.
The procurement of materials and plant in accordance with Group Agreements.
Attend site to carry out stock take to assist with cost to complete.
Key experience and skills required:
Buying experience within the housebuilding/ construction industry
Experience in procuring high value materials and packages for various materials
Strong communication skills
Ability to understand drawings and specifications
Experience of producing schedules
Good product knowledge
