Regional Building Surveyor - Charity Retailer

Your new employer is the UK's leading Charity retailer. With 750 stores UK wide, the retail arm of this organisation creates £30m towards research and support for those battling serious health problems. As the retail arm provides such a large proportion of funding research and support, the charity take a serious approach on maximising profits and in turn funding for their cause.
A large aspect of the continued success and growth of their retail division, is the charity's retail development campaign, where the aim is to open new stores in strategic locations, as well as refurbishing older stores in order to increase footfall and business.
They are looking to take on a Building Surveyor to work in their South East Region, which spans from Norfolk to Kent, across to Brighton, and up as far as Heathrow. The successful applicant will focus on the retail development scheme, surveying new units, and project managing the fit-out process.
You will be employed as one of three Building Surveyors on the Retail Development team, reporting directly to The Development Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing the fit-outs, and refurbishments of a third of the charity's 800 unit strong retail portfolio.
Your new role
You will be based at the Surrey headquarters near Kingston-Upon-Thames, and will be responsible for each retail project in the South East, from Guildford, down to Brighton, across to London, Sussex, Kent and Essex.
Your role will heavily involve carrying out pre-acquisition surveys on retail units with the view to securing leases, therefore you will need to be familiar with, and used to carrying out these surveys.
You will carry out measured surveys and produce floor plans of properties using AutoCAD (The charity does not employ CAD technicians so it is essential you are a competent CAD user) creating a specification and schedule of Work. You will manage the project over the period of the fit-out, which are generally completed within a 4-6 week turnaround, and will then carry out post work inspections with contractors and regional managers.
You will need to be based in The South West London / Surrey area, as it is crucial that you are able to travel throughout the South East of England for site visits.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for the role will have prior experience managing retail fit-outs and a degree or Post Grad Diploma in Building Surveying, or other relevant subjects.
You will need to be competent at carrying out Pre-acquisition Surveys, producing measured surveys and using AutoCAD to transfer them into floor plans. You will have strong experience in producing specifications and schedules for work, and administering contracts for each project.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, is essential, and experience with fit-outs with values and sizes ranging from £50-300K and 4000-40,000 sq.ft is desirable.
This is a flexible working role, and you will be provided with a laptop and phone so you can work from home.
